Gianluca Prestianni, jogador do Benfica, foi suspenso por seis jogos, três dos quais com pena suspensa, devido a insultos homofóbicos no encontro com o Real Madrid, anunciou hoje a UEFA.
A UEFA informa em comunicado que a suspensão em seis jogos, pode ser cumprida nas competições europeias ou em jogos oficiais de seleções, com três dos quais a ficarem com pena suspensa por dois anos, após a data de decisão.
Na primeira mão do play-off de acesso aos oitavos de final da Champions League, a 17 de fevereiro, o Real Madrid venceu por 1-0 o Benfica. O avançado do clube espanhol, Vinícios Júnior, após ter marcado o golo do encontro, dirigiu-se ao árbitro e acusou Prestianni de lhe ter dirigido insultos racistas.
O árbitro interrompeu o jogo e acionou o protocolo antirracismo, retomando a partida quase dez minutos depois.
Após o encontro, o jogador do Benfica negou qualquer insulto racista a Vinícios Júnior, enquanto o internacional do Real Madrid e outros jogadores confirmaram a ofensa por parte de Prestianni.
A UEFA suspendeu provisoriamente Prestianni com um jogo de castigo enquanto decorria o inquérito aos incidentes e, mesmo sem poder jogar, o atleta viajou na semana seguinte com a equipa para Madrid, onde o Benfica foi derrotado por 2-1 e afastado da Liga dos Campeões.

Prestianni has been suspended for six matches by UEFA
Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni has been suspended for six matches, three of which are suspended, following homophobic insults during the match against Real Madrid, UEFA announced today.
UEFA stated in a press release that the six-match ban may be served in European competitions or in official international matches, with three of those matches suspended for two years following the date of the decision.
In the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 play-off on 17 February, Real Madrid beat Benfica 1–0. The Spanish club’s striker, Vinícius Júnior, after scoring the match’s only goal, approached the referee and accused Prestianni of directing racist insults at him.

The referee stopped the match and invoked the anti-racism protocol, resuming play almost ten minutes later.
After the match, the Benfica player denied having directed any racist abuse at Vinícius Júnior, whilst the Real Madrid international and other players confirmed that Prestianni had made the offensive remarks.
UEFA provisionally suspended Prestianni for one match whilst the investigation into the incidents was ongoing and, even though he was unable to play, the player travelled with the team to Madrid the following week, where Benfica were defeated 2-1 and knocked out of the Champions League.
